Considering migration from your current Project Portfolio Management solution to the Microsoft Project Server platform?

QuantumPM can help you assess your technical and process readiness. Our services include the migration of projects and Project Server custom fields to a current release (2010 or 2013) as well as the import of MPP (Microsoft Project) files for migration from other EPM Systems.

By assessing your current deployment, processes, and usage, you can make improvements and prepare for an eventual migration.

There are many questions that need to be answered:

  • When is the right time to migrate from an existing Project Server setup to a new one?
  • Do you need to migrate every project or just specific ones?
  • Do you want to change the setup and/or expand the user base to other departments?
  • Are you planning a cloud or an on-premise solution?
  • Are there new capabilities, such as Workflows, Portfolio Management, and/or improved reporting that you want to add?
  • Do you have custom coding or third-party add-ons that you will need after migration?

QPM uses a structured approach to planning a migration that is modified as needed based on your current setup. We’ve successfully migrated large databases from earlier versions of Project Server to a more current version, and updated custom code and integration components as appropriate. Our process is flexible and will be customized to your needs, and includes the following:

arrowInfrastructure review

We include recommendations regarding the technical architecture and improvements you can make now that will boost performance and that will prepare you for migration. It also includes a complete data integrity review using QPM’s proprietary tools to discover issues with the existing data that will need to be corrected either prior to or during the migration process.

arrowPlanning and assessment workshop

We review your current Project Server configuration and discuss potential changes that may be appropriate for the new solution. We walk through and demonstrate relevant new features and functions. A deliverable from this step includes a set of recommendations to boost your system and processes now as well as a plan for eventual migration.

arrowEPM reports review

We conduct a thorough review of existing reports (custom or standard) to understand usage and future requirements. We make recommendations for migration of existing reports or new reports and views based on capabilities in the new system.

arrowPrototype or Proof of Concept

We set up a new system (on site or hosted) so that we can perform test migrations and validate the solution for your organization.

arrowTraining and migration

Based on the needs of the organization, we migrate all or portions of the data to the new environment. Training for users in new capabilities and processes is included in the rollout plan.
